Hello Mr. Groelle,
I was researching my Dad's military career, and came across your site. He passed away in 2003, but would just like to know more about this time of his life. His time in France is close to yours, but it seems there may be a chance that others knew him. His name then was Michael Dalton, and I think he was in Braconne in '63. All I know of his time there was his role in a play called "The Hasty Heart". He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of Braconne. I would greatly appreciate if any who knew him could share their memories.
Kind regards,
Theresa

The Williamsburg reunion was my first, but I hope, not my last. It was wonderful to meet such great people who have good memories of their time in my home town. Some said these were the best years of their life, and it was for me also. We looked at many photos, sang French songs, had interesting conversations and good laughs, ate great food and drank some wine from "Saumur" and somebody made incredible "Black Russians"... Ha! Ha! Ha!...

I had never visited Williamsburg and it was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about American history. Thank you again for having organized such a perfect reunion.

The Williamsburg reunion was another great one. Thanks to Al Laura and Dick Miller for their effort in putting it all together. There was a lot American History in Williamsburg. There were some vets at this reunion I was able to met that had not been to a reunion before. Always a joy to meet another vet who was station in Saumur. If you have not made a reunion before, we would love to have you come and be with us. I don't believe you will be disappointed. Looking forward to Sedona, Az next year. Also the Branson reunion coming up in September.

It is very disappointing to me that I cannot attend this year’s reunion. I’ve had two major surgeries in the past week that could not be postponed. I was hoping I might recover in time but now realize that it would not be in my best interest to travel for a few weeks. Williamsburg is just too difficult to travel to.
It is especially disappointing to me since there are four guys coming that I was stationed with at Saumur that I hung around with. That is the first time this has happened. I’m hoping they will attend next year in Sedona.

I served in Saumur from August 1961 to August 1963 as an MP in the 202 MPCo, 3rd Plt. My first reunion was in Reno and I look forward to attending each and every year. Those of you who have never attended a reunion should make plans to do so. It is a really good time. We all owe Ed Groelle, Dick Miller and Junior Lauer a BIG THANK YOU for all the work they do on planning reunions and keeping up the web site.
See you in Williamsburg, Jim

I met Bill Messner back in 2000 on my return visit to Saumur. It was my first time back since my enlistment ended in 1959. A lot had changed and, I guess so had I. Bill, however (who I had not known before my 2000 visit) became a wonderful guide with a lot of suggestions and directions, etc. While he had his own agenda, he gave us a lot of suggestions and directions, etc. My wife and I thanked his wife and him very much when we left. I want everyone to know how friendly and helpful they were and if he gets to read this, we again say "Merci beaucoup for making me look good to my wife. You were a real blessing to us on my return to France and, as I am sure that I told you a bunch of years ago that if you are ever in Saratoga County New York, please look us up. Bonne Sante!" -Marty Lazarow
