Sedona was a really good time. We enjoyed perfect weather, the old mining town of Jerome, the Grand Canyon, a Pink Jeep ride and seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Dick Miller is making plans for next year so we need to let him know our preference of; Rapid City, South Dakota, St Louis, Missouri or San Antonio, Texas.

MR. Roelle, I was with the 532nd signal platoon w/c from 61 to 62. We wre a tdy outfit and spent most of our time going from post to post eg, St Nazairre, Orleans, Croix Chapeau etc. Those were good times as I recall. We were a small unit of 42 personnel. We were sent out in teams of 5 to seven men with a non com in charge. I was a pole lineman, if any of your subscribers know of anyone from this platoon I would like to hear from them. I have lost touch with many of my comrades over the years and would love to hear from any of them, some names that come to mind are Sammy Stadler, Ronald Corabi, Witkowski, and William Brown. I love to look at your site. I signed onto it a couple of years ago, but do not see any up to date sign ons.

I DID GO BACK TO SAUMUR IN 1996 WITH MY FAMILY. IT SURE CHANGED A LOT. I WAS IN SAUMUR IN 1957 AND 1958. I ALSO WAS IN CHINON FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THE ONLY PERSON THAT I WAS IN CONTACT DORMAN DAVIDSON. I DO HOPE HE IS DOING WELL. I AM RETIRED FOR ABOUT 11 YEARS AFTER A 41 YEAR CAREER AT "TIME WARNER" AS A VICE PRESIDENT. NOW I PLAY TENNIS 3 TIMES A WEEK AND WALK ABOUT 3 MILES A DAY.AND SPEND A LOT OF TIME WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN WHO LIVE A BLOCK AWAY FROM ME. I WENT BACK TO PARIS LAST YEAR AND I AM GOING AGAIN THIS JUNE 2013 AND SPENDING 3 DAYS IN LONDON AS WELL. IF ANYBODY REMEMBERS ME SEND ME A EMAIL.

Dear Ed,
The following is updated and corrected lineage of Saumur Signal Depot COs.
As you suggested, Lt Col Yuill may have been last CO because McNamara
drawdown closed several Base Sect depots in 1963-64. However, if there
was CO after Yuill, even if only for a few months, he should be added to
list.
Commanding Officer Period of Service

Maj Edward I. Melton 1952
Lt Col Honzie L. Rogers 1952-53
Lt Col Oscar W. Akerstrom 1953-54
Lt Col Robert A. Starr 1954-55
Col Rolla D. Pollock 1955-57
Col Paul A. Feyereisen 1957-59
Col William Schwartz 1960-63
Lt Col Harry F. Yuill 1963-

Thanks for your help. Bet Lou Sisk would have remembered first names like
"Honzie" and "Oscar."

I really enjoyed this site. It brought back a lot of great memories. My father - SFC Arthur Larson - was assigned to Saumur and the 510th Sig Co 1961-64. We lived in Army quarters in St Cyr. I played basketball for the "Saumur Spartans" and went to Poitiers High School for the first half of my freshman year. Then my dad was transferred to Verdun. One more year and then back to the States.

I was a civilian tech rep at Saumur from 1958 - 1961. There about 15 of us and we were responsiuble for constructing, installing and operating the facilities. The depot was used primarily to overhaul signal corps equipment used by the Seventh Army in Germany. At the time I was there we had about 200 French people working in the production lines and in the adminsitration. Although the Depot was certainly a military base, it was also an equipment rebuild factory employing mostly French civilians. In addition to the 15 or so tech reps, most of whom were engineers, there were also civilian US Government employees, too. I have many fond memories of Saumur and remain to this day friends with French employees and some of the tech reps.
