Hello! My name is Rachel. I am researching my family history. I don't know much about my father or his side of the family. His biological father was James Howle Beal, who served as Sergeant 1st Class for the 552nd Signal Maintenance Company from at least 1953 to 1955. He passed away in January 1955 in France, I believe from some sort of accident. My father, J.L. Beal was born Sept 7 of 1954.

I know absolutely nothing about my paternal grandfather. And I would love to hear any little bit that you may remember about him. I've never seen a picture of him. My memories of my Grandma Laura are more just stories and pictures; she died when I was very young. Her roots were French, but French-Canadian.

Any little tidbit would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and your service.

Thank you for this, Sir. I just finished a revolutionary paper on the Battle of France with a convincing but counterintuitive thesis that the battle was a near draw. It's a relief to meet an American who appreciates French military history and the sacrifices of the forgotten. My life's work is based off of that. So thank you very much. I'll be more than glad to e-mail you or anyone else a copy of doctrines that imply a near draw at Sedan.

Served at the Saumur Depot from Dec 59-Jan 63.Started out working with Ed Hoess as 296.1 Radio Repairmen. Later worked w/ Bill Messner,Chilos Smith,
and Max Palencia on the AN/GRC -26 shelters installing equipment. Then re-
placed Norm Ladouceur as chief of the P&T Section mainly because I could
cuss fairly well in French. Saumur was an interesting assignment.

Sedona was a really good time. We enjoyed perfect weather, the old mining town of Jerome, the Grand Canyon, a Pink Jeep ride and seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Dick Miller is making plans for next year so we need to let him know our preference of; Rapid City, South Dakota, St Louis, Missouri or San Antonio, Texas.
